I am an avid Do it yourselfer and wanted to get a compact air compressor for a variety of projects. Today I ran into a great deal. An almost new Husky 4 gal. pancake compressor for 20 bucks.
My excitement went down when I got home and read the sticker it had on the side. It said it was not recommended for finish or framing nailers.
Actually, the list was a lot longer than that but these are the two main things I would want to use it for.
Does anybody know if this is more of a suggestion or a rule? The other thing I might want to use is the engine washer but that’s about it.

Finish nailers require 60-80 psi. A framing nailer requires 120 psi. If your compressor doesn’t have enough air behind it the framing nailer will not fire. If it does fire okay, your only limited by your volume of air……which simply put means you have to nail slower to allow the compressor to catch up. I have a Porter-Cable 150 psi pancake compressor……it will run anything….including a roofing nailer.

This is a 26gal.compressor that is 11 months old. The motor runs but will not build up pressure above 18lbs.Any suggestions on how to fix it would be very helpful, I use it every day.Also,is a special tool needed to take the long bolts out of the top housing?
The top bolts do not require a special tool to be removed.
It sound like you have a bad seal on the compressor pump. Remove the line from the pump to the tank. turn the unit on and put your thumb over the pump outlet. If you can keep your thumb on the outlet, you need to replace the pump seals.
