http://www.techbricks.nl technic LEGO pneumatic air compressor tested with a Mindsensor pressure sensor. The Compressor is powered by a RC Buggy motor. It has 4 small pneumatic pumps. One small pneumatic cylinder is pressed out when pressure is building up. At a pressure of 28 psi the cylinder push the pole reverse electric LEGO switch which turns off the motor. Very simple air compressor constructed using legos. Motor powered through NXT intelligent brick, Bluetooth controlled using my Macbook. Parts used:

1 x NXT servo motor
1 x air tank
2 x pneumatic air pump
5 x pneumatic cylinders
1 x NXT intelligent brick + software

The compressor runs until pressure reaches a sufficient amount, then shuts off until pressure drops. The air tank is connected directly to a pneumatic cylinder so that the cylinder expands with raised pressure. THis is counteracted by a shock absorber so that it takes higher pressure to expand the cylinder. Once expanded it activates a touch sensor to stop the pumping.
